De regenboogtrui wordt gedragen door de regerend wereldkampioen in een bepaalde discipline van de wielersport. De regenboogtrui is altijd wit met dezelfde 5 kleuren. Toch mogen de sponsors van de ploeg op het shirt staan. 

De Faema wielerploeg – actief van 1955 tot 1969 had officieel een Italiaanse afkomst maar bestond voornamelijk uit Spaanse en Belgische renners. In 1962 en 1963 werden de ploegen van Faema en Flandria samengevoegd, maar in 1964 trok Faema zich terug uit de sponsoring van de ploeg. Toch kwam Faema weer terug in 1968, en met succes. De grote kampioen Eddy Merckx had zich aangesloten bij het peloton. Vanaf 1970 ging de ploeg verder onder de naam Faemino-Faemena.
