First edition of this pressbook issued by Warner Bros. to accompany their 1940 film The Letter, adapted from Somerset Maugham’s celebrated short story. The film was directed by William Wyler and starred Bette Davis, Herbert Marshall and James Stephenson, and received seven Academy Award nominations.

The pressbook contains advance and current publicity material the film, illustrated throughout with black-and-white stills. It also details a range of promotional items produced for the release, including lobby cards, posters, and other advertising formats.

Loosely inserted is an eight-page fold-out supplement further showcasing the film’s advertising campaigns.

A rare and evocative piece of Hollywood cinema ephemera relating to one of the most acclaimed screen adaptations of Maugham’s work.

The first thing I liked about this is that the on/off switch has a mark on the ON side, unlike my last Belkin power strip, which had a switch where you couldn't tell which side was on or off. That Belkin was remote, which I really wanted, but the Belkin remote never worked reliably even from the start, so I'm happy with a surge protector without a remote but where I don't have to guess whether it's on or off if I can't see the light on the device plugged into it.
