Your main space requirement is enough room to swing your longest club. Tokens are used for course play in the Square Golf app — 1 token per hole. Your purchase includes 1,000 tokens, which covers 55+ full 18-hole rounds. When you need more, you can top up directly through Square at less than $1 per round. The driving range, putting practice, and Closest to Pin modes do not consume tokens. GSPro, E6 Connect, and Awesome Golf are not token-based — they use their own subscription models and connect natively with no extra Square fee.

No — the Square is indoor only. It relies on a high-speed camera and infrared LED technology that requires a controlled lighting environment. Direct sunlight interferes with the camera. If you want outdoor use with the same photometric technology, the Square Golf Omni is built for both indoor and outdoor environments. If outdoor range sessions matter to you on a radar unit, the Garmin R10 and Rapsodo MLM2PRO both work outdoors.

For club data (swing path, face angle, dynamic loft, angle of attack), yes — metallic sticker markers on the club shaft are required. These are included in the box. For spin data, the included dotted balls deliver the best accuracy, but standard balls still work for ball speed, carry, launch angle, and other metrics. TaylorMade TP5 Pix balls have also been tested to work well for spin accuracy.

Yes — and with no extra Square subscription fee. The Square connects to GSPro natively over Bluetooth. You only need a GSPro subscription and a Windows PC running Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) or Windows 11. E6 Connect and Awesome Golf also connect with no additional Square fee. This is a meaningful difference from the Rapsodo MLM2PRO, which requires an active Premium subscription to unlock GSPro access on top of the GSPro fee.

Yes — putting is tracked and supported in the Square Golf app with adjustable green speeds and a dedicated putting practice mode. This is one of the Square's genuine differentiators at this price point. Neither the Garmin R10 nor the Rapsodo MLM2PRO tracks putts directly — both use pre-set putting parameters for simulator rounds.
