In this dazzling work of history, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author follows Benjamin Franklin to France for the crowning achievement of his career

"In December of 1776 a small boat delivered an old man to France." So begins an enthralling narrative account of how Benjamin Franklin--seventy years old, without any diplomatic training, and possessed of the most rudimentary French--convinced France, an absolute monarchy, to underwrite America's experiment in democracy.

When Franklin stepped onto French soil, he well understood he was embarking on the greatest gamble of his career. By virtue of fame, charisma, and ingenuity, Franklin outmaneuvered British spies, French informers, and hostile colleagues; engineered the Franco-American alliance of 1778; and helped to negotiate the peace of 1783. The eight-year French mission stands not only as Franklin's most vital service to his country but as the most revealing of the man.

In A Great Improvisation, Stacy Schiff draws from new and little-known sources to illuminate the least-explored part of Franklin's life. Here is an unfamiliar, unforgettable chapter of the Revolution, a rousing tale of American infighting, and the treacherous backroom dealings at Versailles that would propel George Washington from near decimation at Valley Forge to victory at Yorktown. From these pages emerges a particularly human and yet fiercely determined Founding Father, as well as a profound sense of how fragile, improvisational, and international was our country's bid for independence.

soap is too thin and runny, and feels diluted and cheap.
Scent: Coconut, Size: 64 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
As stated above, soap is too thin and consistency is too runny. Antibacterial properties are good, and scent is adequate, but thin consistency necessitates the perception that one has to use more, as well as controlling the “stream” while dispensing is tricky. Liquid soap should feel luxurious, and not like the soap found in the local service station’s men’s room, where industrial grade hand soap has been diluted with water to make it last longer.

Best foam soap refill if you use the right soap dispenser
Scent: Rosewater (2 Pack), Scent: Rosewater (2 Pack)
Nice and foamy (pic shows foam dispensed at level 1 bc my kids wash their hands a lot..level 4 looks like whipped cream!) Lovely rose scent. Hands actually feel soft afterwards. Works better than I expected. This *foaming* soap specifically needs a *foaming soap dispenser*. It specifically says that on the back of the package. So for those complaining it’s a liquid and stays liquid, perhaps you’re using just a regular pump container. This soap will be my go-to to refill my automatic foaming soap dispenser. Highly recommend.

most convenient refill system
Scent: Ocean Breeze (2 Pack), Scent: Ocean Breeze (2 Pack)
I have been a fan of J.R. Watkins for a while, but these foaming hand soap refills have really sold me on the brand. I get compliments from guests almost every time they use the guest bathroom. The refill process is incredibly easy and mess-free. The spout is designed perfectly so you don't end up with wasted soap running down the side of the bottle, which has been a frustration of mine with other brands. The foam itself is rich and it doesn't just turn into water the second you rub your hands together. I love that I can reuse my dispensers while saving money and reducing plastic waste by buying the larger refill pouches. If you enjoy a high-quality foaming lather and an upscale scent, this is a perfect 5-star household staple.

Good hand soap for the price
Scent: Lemon
Great value for the price. The lemon scent smells fresh and clean without being overpowering, and the foaming soap works really well. I like that it’s alcohol-free and made with plant-based cleansers, so it feels gentle on the hands and doesn’t dry them out. The 2-pack refill size lasts a long time, which makes it even more worth it. Overall, a good buy for everyday use.

The best foaming soap. Doesn't dry out my hands
Scent: Lemon
I wash my hands many times a day and found that every other foaming soap I used was drying out my hands pretty bad. I found this at Target one day and gave it a try. No more dry hands! I bought a couple Oxo foaming soap dispensers and have been using this soap for a couple years now. The lather is thick and the soap cleans my hands well without drying them out...which was a major problem with every brand I tried previously. It also smells good, but not strong (I usually buy fragrance-free products, but this doesn't bother me at all).
