This book, Teenager Money, introduces money management for teenagers, young adults and facilitators/teachers.
This book is now Quality Marked and endorsed by the Association for Citizenship Teaching (ACT) in the United Kingdom. It can facilitate personal and self-learning, suitable for running workshops in schools, educational institutions, social care, community groups and where young people gather.
"The Facilitators' guide to the Teenage Money course is a clear and useful resource for teachers looking to get started with finance education. It provides lots of engaging activities that also support tutors and non-specialists with inspiration and guidance in leading young people through the maze of financial topics. The resource can be used to build a foundation for developing financial literacy and support the requirements for teaching financial and economic education in the National Curriculum for Citizenship. ACT is pleased to endorse this publication." - Kirsty White, Head of Learning Resources, Dec 2022.
We asked Lisa, another young person who has now started at University, to share with you some money lessons she wished they had taught her at school! Lisa says:
"Being an adult and managing your finances can be a struggle for some of us. We all know that we should plan, budget and take care of money and our spending. But how many of us do it? We are supposed to rationalise each purchase and think upfront about whether we can afford something and whether we need the item we want to buy. Or is this purchase just a way of satisfying our infinite wants?
Most of us wish we had learned about money before our 20s so that by 30, we have some savings and investments and understand how to manage money.
We wish we didn't make so many mistakes and didn't waste hundreds of pounds on useless purchases. We wish they taught us more about money at school," concludes Lisa.
This is just a taste of the real thing!
