This test paper is infused with potassium iodide and starch, and upon contact with an oxidizing agent, produces a blue-black complex. Iodine typically takes around 60 seconds to react, with initial reactions producing a subtle blue color. For higher concentrations, the strip will change from dark blue to purple.
