A remarkable micro-history from the author of The Sleepwalkers and Revolutionary Spring'Clark uses a scandal that befell Königsberg in the 1830s to tell a story of Europe and religion and the battle between reason and imagination. Everything here is extraordinary… Clark has tremendous fun in this setting, and not just because of its soap opera-ish potential' - Peter Hoskin, Englesberg Ideas Now part of the Russian Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad, the former Prussian and German port of Königsberg has always been a somewhat sleepy place, doomed to be famous for having once been the residence of Immanuel Kant. But in the late 1830s, just for a short while, it became famous for all the wrong reasons.

Christopher Clark’s brilliant new book is the result of many years of fascination with this strange case. Sensational accusations were bandied about, implying that beneath the town’s somnolent surface there were dark erotic currents and wrenching betrayals of trust. For the Prussian authorities this was just the sort of moral collapse they feared most. In the aftermath of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, which had unsettled a generation, every lapse could be seen as the harbinger of new storms.

A Scandal in Königsberg beautifully brings to life a time and a place that we would now situate in the tranquil ‘Biedermeier’ years between the seismic upheavals of the 1810s and 1840s. But there is a timeless quality to this small vortex of turbulence, in which spiritual hunger, vanity, professional rivalry, sexual incontinence, naivety and sheer human waywardness threatened to tear a city apart.

Dog loves even though they are thin product dog loves them and Picks Them out of many many toys.
These were super thin and I thought about tearing a hole in them and putting in a slight bit of stuffing. However, my dog absolutely loves them and we fling them across the house and the yard like little Frisbees. They are very lightweight but kind of a corduroy stitched fabric and they have lasted quite some time and been through the washer and dryer many times and abused. Still holding up and the dog loves them. Highly recommend a great product for the price.

Will Buy Again--Eventually as they are hearty
My dog loves these "trash babies" as the size, squeaker & trash /cellphane sound the crinkle toy makes brings her joy. this brings me joy as the stitching is hearty and toys hold up when cleaned in my washing machine & dryer. Her first trash baby is still going strong after a year tho the crinkle sound has dimminshed some the sweaker is good as new. I bought these to rotate to wash and keep a new one for travel. Very durable! good size for my 20 pound mini aussie.

Cute, big enough and top notch quality
These are SO CUTE! The look exactly like the pictures so I am really glad about that. They are quite substantial in size, big enough. See pics :). I gift one of three to my friend's dog. The texture is soft and boucle like and soothing for me and the doggos! The squeakiness is very prominent but not present in all parts of the toy - so its annoying. I am also glad these have no stuffing because they look great as is and lack of the stuff make them easy to chew on. The cuteness got me on this one and I may repurchase again, if need be.
