INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to the Empower People Receiving Support Using a Person-Centred Approach course. This course only includes a challenge assessment designed to assess your knowledge and skills required to demonstrate competence in applying person-centred and rights-based support practices, reflecting on personal values and attitudes, supporting self-determination and informed choice, recognising and responding to abuse and rights breaches, addressing barriers to empowerment, supporting communication and advocacy, and working within legal, ethical, and organisational requirements when supporting people with individualised plans.

Empowering people receiving support using a person-centred approach involves recognising each person’s right to make decisions about their own life and providing support in ways that respect their choices, goals, identity, culture, and lived experience. In real workplace practice, this requires workers to reflect on their own attitudes, reduce bias, explain rights and service principles clearly, consult with the person about their needs and preferences, and deliver support that promotes dignity, independence, inclusion, and participation. This is important because person-centred and empowering support helps people maintain control over their lives, strengthens confidence and wellbeing, and supports safe, respectful, and lawful service delivery.

The course assessment focuses on your ability to reflect on personal values and attitudes, adjust your approach to reduce bias, explain human rights, dignity of risk, and person-centred principles, deliver support that upholds individual needs and choices, and consult with the person to identify and respect cultural needs. It also evaluates your ability to identify and report rights breaches, abuse, exploitation, and neglect, recognise the person as the expert in their own life, facilitate person-centred options for action, support communication of goals and decisions, encourage self-determination and informed choice, support assistive technology use, identify and address barriers to empowerment, assist access to advocacy and complaint mechanisms, and apply empowerment, active support, active listening, strengths-based practice, restrictive practice requirements, and legal and ethical responsibilities in support work.

By successfully completing this course assessment, you will have demonstrated that you can empower people receiving support using a person-centred approach by applying rights-based and strengths-based practice, respecting individual choices and cultural needs, supporting communication and decision-making, identifying and responding to risks and rights concerns, addressing barriers to inclusion and independence, and working within legal, ethical, and organisational requirements to promote safe, respectful, and empowering support.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

OUTSTANDING
Format: Kindle
This was very, very good. The world is vast and characters are complex. There is a good plot with a whole lot going on. This is well written. Good twists and turns and some heart breaking moments. You will love these characters, they have heart and loyalty. I am hoping that there will be several more books. We've yet to see anything from the Sea Court but only a mention of them here and there. The Wood Court was given a quick couple of scenes, and only as far as some warriors, we've yet to enter their court and the Shadow Court, I'm not sure if they will be a force for good or bad, but they definitely will play a much bigger role moving forward. This is primarily the Ice and Air Courts. Told in multiple views, which I loved, it gives you a chance to see things from different eyes. There's alot of political maneuvering and deception. I loved it and will pick up the next book as it becomes available. If you like The Fae and the courts, you should love this. I think the author has mucn in store for us.

Definitely worth the read!
Format: Kindle
After taking a deep breath and taking in that wicked twist of an ending, I have finally composed myself. My first thought when I started this book was that I love Reyna's character. I was intrigued by her connection with her familiar and the Ruin that is plaguing her land. It came as no surprise that she took her sister's place in an attempt to protect her. When they reach the Air Court everything slows down. This is where it was iffy for me. First of all, I like multiple POV's in books however 7 is a bit much. It starts to interrupt the story line. I felt like I was finally making progress connecting with one character, then it was switched to another person. I felt they all had necessary or pertinent information but not necessarily were they all POV worthy. The only other thing that annoyed me was that Reyna constantly was " trapped." She would rush off without thinking, only to need rescuing. She is brilliant in a fight, but she really doesn't think through anything. Lorcan is amazing. I know he might be on the "bad" list, but his background is so interesting. Eislyn(Reyna's sister) is really so sweet, but calculating. I enjoyed her and Thane's dialogue. The author did an amazing job with the imagery in this book. Everything was so detailed it was easy to fall into the scene. I love unexpected twists and while part of the ending I expected, I wasn't expecting how it took place. All in all, I found it very entertaining and I am very invested in continuing this series. Favorite quotes: "The truth may be twisted but never false." "Who was she if she was not the enemy of the Air Court? What was her purpose of she no longer has that?" "In a war-torn land, love was always a lie."
